Toy Review: Transformers Titans Return Fastclash

I never had the Autobot clones, and I only played with the Decepticon clones once or twice.  However, I was still excited to see that these box sets were going to give us two (and most likely all) of the clones.  In the “Chaos on Velocitron” set, Fastclash (formerly Fastlane) makes his debut. He is…. interesting. He’s interesting from a design standpoint. Neither a Deluxe or a Legend class, he exists in new size class Hasbro has said was created for the clones.  So, rather than try to shoehorn him into a size too big or too small, they went

Some Quick Thoughts on Titan Master Rodimus Prime

Just had the chance to examine Titan Master Rodimus Prime from the “Chaos on Velocitron” set. This is the first diecast Titan Master we have seen here, so I wasn’t sure what to think.   It’s definitely a unique TM figure. It doesn’t look different at first glance, but when I picked it up, I could tell it was not the same. First, it was cooler to the touch.  Having been in my basement for a few hours, it was slightly cooler than room temperature, and the difference between the metal and plastic pieces was apparent. Second, the weight was off.

Toy Fair 2017: Hasbro Reveals Trypticon

Hello, folks! In a prelude to the opening of Toy Fair 2017 tomorrow, Hasbro sent out a press release and images of the upcoming Titans Class Trypticon! This robotic dinosaur is faithful to his Generation One counterpart but has been upgraded to Titan Master technology.  Full-Tilt is now a full size Deluxe figure with robot mode and Necro Titan Master head/figure. Plus, Trypticon can eat other Titan Master figures, and you can retrieve them from his stomach. Gross. Below is the official press release as well as pictures, plus a picture released today on Hasbro’s Twitter account. We will see

More Than Meets The Ears with Transformers Music News

Over the past week, Transformers fans have had not one, not two, but three announcements regarding TF-related music. First, Hasbro and Sony released a new album Transformers Roll Out last week to coincide with Record Store Day.  This new album contains tracks inspired by the continuous battles of the Autobots and Decepticons and features rock, alternative, and alt-pop artists, including Beck, Elle Rae, and Crash Kings.  The press release is at the end of the post. It’s an interesting idea, to be sure.  I’ve not been a huge fan of “inspired-by” albums.  Usually, I stick to the actual music from

Hasbro Announces New TRANSFORMERS: EARTH WARS Mobile Game; Features Cullen, Weller, Furman

I love Transformers. I love mobile games, as they’re the only gaming I do these days. I love Peter Cullen and Frank Weller voicing their G1 characters. And Simon Furman’s G1 story will always hold a special place in my heart. Did Hasbro make this game just for me? Below is a press release about a new TRANSFORMERS: EARTH WARS mobile game coming this spring, featuring Cullen as Optimus Prime and Welker as Megatron, with a story written by Furman. Just add Vince DiCola music and I’d buy stake in the company.  And now that I have an iPad, I

Hasbro Hangout – A Preview of Titans Return and Robots in Disguise, and Titan Fans’ Choice!

On Tuesday evening, the fine folks at Hasbro and Hunter PR were kind enough to set up Google Hangouts between the Transformers team and members of the fan sites. I will be updating ASM with info, but here are the highlights: Powermaster Prime returns and he is GLORIOUS. He is 1988 in 2015 aesthetics and engineering. A nearly fully retooled Ultra Magnus, Op has his trailer with signature blue stripe, a base mode, Autobot Apex as a head, and a wonderfully articulated combined robot. I want him. Now. A G2 Bruticus box set is coming. While he sports G1 Decepticon

SDCC 2015: A Quick Quick Look at Devaststor

In case you missed it, yesterday I tweeted my review of Hasbro’s SDCC Devastator: @MattGuzy @chrisrtxv "Look. It's Devastator. You know you want him. Want chrome? Get this guy. The end." — ASM (@ASMzine) July 8, 2015 @MattGuzy @chrisrtxv …. Damn, I think I just wrote ASM's review. NOBODY STEAL THAT. — ASM (@ASMzine) July 8, 2015 There you go. In all seriousness, Devvy is a big toy in more ways than one, a toy that deserves a lot of attention. But I know that tonight is Preview Night and there may be someone still on the fence on whether
