At BotCon 2010, our own Jennifer Ulm was able to get an interview with Kris Jones, Executive Producer of “Transformers Universe” at Jagex. Hear what he had to say about the upcoming MMO!
ASM: From what we’ve seen, the art style is inspired by Transformers Prime. Will we also see that in the story and setting?
Kris: Basically, we’re still deciding what the game’s environment is going to be. You’re right that art style-wise we’ve taken a lot of Transformers Prime’s cues, but we have a lot of freedom to use characters that aren’t necessarily Prime. You’ll notice that Prowl and Barricade who aren’t in the cartoon are here today (he gestures to two character standees), and the player character over there (a third standee of a bulky blue Autobot). It goes without saying we’ll be using the big characters. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron… Read more

The BotCon 2011 attendee exclusive figure was revealed last night to those lucky people able to pick up their packages. And he is Animated Fisitron.
BotCon 2011 has begun, and their Twitter feed has revealed the first at-show exclusive: Animated Minerva, the Customization Class project.
Two things — wow, that’s a nice deco! And the new head sculpt add-ons? Nice.
Secondly — dang it, now I want one….
Yesterday, BotCon revealed the second toy in the 2011 box set — BREAKDOWN.
It’s not a surprise. After 3 previous BotCon toys, they should just start including Breakdown in every set after this.
Could be Voyager Optimus Prime with a head remold, although I’ve heard people say they’d like Wreck-Gar (possibly, giving him a new head) or Leader Ultra Magnus (doubtful – too darn big for the box set). I even saw someone wish for Voyager Bulkhead. That last one is interesting; again, it would need a remolded head, but hey, it’s possible. It’s going to be a bigger toy, most likely, since it is the Stunticon leader. I’d say go for Voyager Prime.
I think that Swindle could make for an interesting Breakdown. We don’t have that many cars to choose from in the Animated line, and the head on Swindle is reminiscent of Breakdown. I think the right paint applications would make this work.
I’m going to guess Lockdown. Somehow all those spikes just lend themselves to a psychotic Decepticon. Don’t think we’ll get a head remold here.
Okay, this is a toughie. We don’t have a race car in the Animated line, and we’re getting a yellow redeco/remold of Blurr in the Club line, so what to do? My guess is that we’ll get him using Rodimus Prime with a head remold.
Of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if I get some, if not all, of these wrong. But it’s fun to speculate! Got ideas? Post them in the comments.
If you haven’t heard, BotCon announced the theme of the upcoming convention exclusive set, and it’s the Stunticons as how they would appear in the Transformers Animated universe. In addition to announcing that Derrick Wyatt, art director for the Animated show, had a hand in designing the set, the folks at BotCon also revealed the first toy — DEAD END.
So, what do I think about it? In a word?
